In the mix at The Tour of California

Whether it’s the Giro d’Italia, The Tour of California, or any pro race, the ultimate goal of many fi’zi:k grassroots program riders (now coined The fi’zi:k lin:k) is to be able to make it to the pro level. Fi’zi:k is at the Tour of California supporting the star studded field participating in the biggest bike race in America.
Along with our high profile, big budget and long time Pro Tour squads such as Team Liquigas and Garmin-Slipstream, fi’zi:k also supports debut teams that are just building their foundation. That group includes the final addition to this year’s Tour of California: Team Fly V Australia Presented by Successful Living Foundation who received an invite to the Tour just three weeks ago. The newly formed team is out to show that they have what it takes to be here.
Fly V’s talent was proven early with a win at last week’s Boulevard Race in San Diego, when Ben Day came out and gave it all he had, fine tuning before his first stage race of the year, and taking the victory in a three-man up sprint.
Having sponsored Fly V pb Successful Living Team Director and newly retired, Henk Vogels, during his years racing for Navigators, fi’zi:k was presented with the opportunity to do something special for the Fly V squad. A quick meeting with Fly V’s co-director - 1984 Olympic Gold Medalist - Steve Hegg, and ten days later Fly V’s fi’zi:k Team bus was wrapped, loaded and ready to roll!

To say the riders are grateful would be an understatement. At press time, we are four days into are the 8-day race – the last three being the wettest days in California this winter.
The fi’zi:k team bus is also being used to showcase our new road saddle, the Antares. If you’re at any of the Tour of California stages, stop by to check out the Fly V Australia presented by Successful Living powered by fi’zi:k team bus. And, if you’d like to know what it takes to be a part of the fi’zi:k L:ink, stop by or drop me a line.
